In order to keep your trip under 700 and something dollars you must accept a few things:
- You have to book at least a month in advance.
- Layovers almost always
- Be flexible with your days
- Only stay a maximum of 3 to 4 nights
Now that that is understood, here are my cheap ways to fly and stay.
1. Choose date range
Choose and Date range and think about your trip. Traveling during the week is almost always cheaper. If you are going somewhere to party traveling closest to the weekend is most favorable for you. If you want to i.e. Be at your destination on your birthday, bachelorette party, or for whatever your special occasion is, be sure to book having your event be the 2nd or 3rd day there (pay close attention to the landing and take off times), to any avoid traveling on your event date.
2. Compare prices
Check as many websites as you can to compare prices. Some of the same flight times and airlines have different prices on different sites. Some of my personal faves are: bookit, cheapoair, theflightdeal, travelocity, justfly, and skyscanner. Sign up for the price change alerts!!!! When you search and save your preferred flight information, you will receive email alerts when the prices go down. If you’re anything like me I check emails like I check text.
3. Try Airbnb
Airbnb.com is the best thing I discovered this year,I even got the app on my phone. I honestly don’t think I will ever stay in a hotel by choice again.
If you are unfamiliar with airbnb I like to compare it to uber and lyft, but of course instead of cars it’s homes. Airbnb allows travelers to have an authentic experience in the comfort of a home. A coworker turned me on to it, I did my own research of course, and tried it out. It was an amazing experience. I loved being unbothered by other tourist and cleaning crews, it was the real deal, and it was SO MUCH CHEAPER!!
4. If you choose a hotel
Always filter your search from low to high. Choose a place in your preferred price range, be sure that the price reflects the correct occupancy number, read the reviews on several sites, then book away.
Happy booking !
